One frequent reason for erroneous account information is that the credit information database of the credit bureau is cross-filed with similar names or common names which resulted of the account belong to others mixed with your report. We can request that our credit reporting agency verify and remove the wrong information by requesting a RMCR. However, you, the consumer, must also send the corrected information to all national repositories, so they can update their credit files database. See Correcting Mistakes on Your Report.
